We have extensive experience in the delivery of training to all levels of participants on the topic of tobacco control and smoking cessation. Our training courses will enable participants to provide support and information to clients or group members, whether they wish to stop smoking or be more aware of the issues around the wider effect and impact of smoking.
This 1 hour 30 min course is a short introduction to smoking cessation and aims to raise awareness of support for smokers who want to stop.
By the end of the course participants will have:
An awareness of the current prevalence of smoking
Explored the health effects of smoking
An understanding of the complex nature of tobacco use
Examined the ‘Stages of Change’ approach by Prochaska and
DiClemente
Received information on the 4A’s and 2R’s approach to
assessing smokers and providing appropriate guidance and
support
An awareness of the current aids to smoking cessation, they
how work and how to access them
Knowledge of referral mechanisms to specialist support.

This three hour course aims to help participants provide effective support for smokers who want to stop. It covers similar content to the Brief Intervention Awareness Raising Smoking Cessation course but also gives participants the opportunity to practice their skills and have a fuller understanding of the smoker’s perspective.

This two-day course aims to train participants as specialists in helping smokers to stop. Participants will learn how to examine the smoking habit, explore smoking cessation strategies, practice interpersonal communication skills, discuss how to set up and run a stop smoking clinic, examine group dynamics and discuss available resources and support mechanisms.
This course addresses the content of the Regional Training Framework and is recognised as the appropriate course for those wishing to provide specialist smoking cessation services in the NHS, workplace or community.

This course is designed to help those working with young people organise and run a stop smoking service.
During the two-day course, participants will learn how to initiate and promote a Stop Smoking Programme in their setting, be able to provide group and individual support, understand teenage smoking and the nature of the smoking habit, examine group dynamics and have a knowledge of available support mechanisms.

This course is designed to enable teachers to use the Smokebusters resource pack in P6 and P7.
The two-hour session trains teachers to provide information to young people about the harmful effects of smoking, address part of the health education section of the school curriculum, understand the complex nature of tobacco use and encourage young people to reject the smoking habit by reinforcing their defences against pressures to experiment with cigarettes.
