Since two out of three cancers are preventable, helping people reduce their risk of developing the disease is a crucial part of our work.
We deliver a range of cancer prevention activities including tobacco control and smoking cessation support programmes; community, workplace and school education programmes, as well as training on a range of cancer-related topics. Our cancer prevention programmes are innovative and comprehensive and have been proven to be effective in helping achieve our aims.
Over the last 20 years we have become increasingly involved in European and international initiatives aimed at reducing cancer. Our day to day work is integrated with strategies developed at local, national and international levels and we are leading members of many international networks including International Union Against Cancer, European Cancer Leagues, European Network on Young People & Tobacco, European Network on Smoking Prevention, Europe Against Cancer and Action on Smoking & Health.
An ongoing priority for UCF is to target prevention services at hard to reach groups and those most at risk, as well as developing programmes specifically relevant to young people.
