We work in partnership with the Community Development and Health Network (CDHN) to end health inequalities using a community development approach. This means campaigning, influencing policy and developing best practice work in an attempt to achieve health as a human right for all, irrelevant of where you live.
Skin Cancer Prevention
Delivering the skin cancer prevention and early detection messages to the farming community and outdoor workers is a priority in the implementation of the skin cancer strategy. Materials targeting outdoor workers have been developed in association with the Health and Safety Executive and distributed widely through links with trade unions and other professional bodies.
Sun Awareness Week 2006 focused on outdoor workers and the farming community. UCF, in association with Gordons Chemists, highlighted the sun protection message at the Balmoral Show, providing sunscreen samples and offering individuals the opportunity to use the skinscanner.
UCF worked with Gordons to bring the sun protection message and awareness of early skin cancer detection to all 44 stores across Northern Ireland.
