UCF and many women in the province are celebrating the tenth anniversary of our ovarian cancer support group.
The group, which was founded by Bangor woman Isobel Totten, meets every month in the patient centre at Eglantine Avenue.
Ruth Campbell, head of care services, says: ?We are indebted to Isobel for establishing the group. It has been a source of great encouragement, enabling women to come together in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere to share experiences and to give and receive support.?
Ovarian cancer causes around 90 deaths in the province every year and the symptoms are difficult to detect.
Ruth adds: ?We are totally committed to research that will find an effective screening tool, so that the disease will be detected earlier and the lives of more women will be saved.?
For more information about the group, contact Ruth at 028 9066 3281.
