One of the most recognisable landmarks in Northern Ireland is set to be the spectacular location for the Ulster Cancer Foundations (UCF) Abseil Against Cancer.
Soaring at 135 feet and situated at the head of Strangford Lough, Scrabo Tower, Newtownards will stage this exhilarating event on Saturday 4th March from 11am.
Abseil Against Cancer is one of numerous fundraising events scheduled during the Ulster Cancer Foundations month long Daffodil Appeal, which has been successfully raising funds in Northern Ireland for 18 years.
The daffodil is the international symbol of hope for the fight against cancer. In previous years UCF has raised substantial amounts of money to support research, education and prevention programmes, as well as providing care and support for all those affected by cancer.
This years Appeal, supported by Merck Pharmaceuticals, will focus on raising awareness of bowel (colorectal) cancer, the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in Northern Ireland. Throughout the month, UCF will be highlighting easily achievable dietary and exercise steps, which can be taken to reduce the risk of bowel cancer.
