Bavarian in Support of the Ulster Cancer Foundation?s Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign
By Derval Keenan, 11/10/2004 3:28:21 PM

To coincide with BMW?s national used car event, being held between the 15th ? 16th October, local BMW dealership, Bavarian, on Belfast?s Boucher Crescent is pleased to announce their support for the Ulster Cancer Foundation's (UCF) Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.

Bavarian has agreed to make a donation of £100 for each vehicle sold during this period.

Breast Cancer is the most common form of cancer among women in Northern Ireland, with 1 in 12 women developing breast cancer before the age of 75.

Trevor Johnston, Sales Manager, Bavarian said, ?We are delighted to be associated with such an initiative as we are aware of the devastating effect that this illness can have if it goes undetected. We trust that along with the other events which the Ulster Cancer Foundation are involved in to raise a significant amount that will go some way to help.?

Joyce Savage, Head of Appeals and Marketing, UCF, said, ?We are delighted to have the support of Bavarian and hope that they have a very successful weekend. October, Breast Cancer Awareness month, is a very important time of year for us, both in raising awareness of breast cancer and funds to continue our work, which relies almost entirely on voluntary donations and the support of local people.

?UCF understands the very personal and individual nature of how a diagnosis of breast cancer is dealt with and is there to support and reassure women during what is often a very difficult and worrisome time. We offer a wide variety of information and support for women throughout Northern Ireland including ? Breast Cancer Support Groups Meetings, Specialist Bra and Swimwear fitting service for mastectomy patients, Freephone Cancer Helpline, professional counselling, beauty therapy, art therapy classes, awareness campaigns, and cancer research funding. All money raised during this campaign will enable us to continue our work here in Northern Ireland.?

If you have any concerns about cancer please contact UCF?s Freefone Helpline for information, support, counselling or just to talk about cancer on 0800 783 33 39, available 9am ? 5pm, Monday ? Friday.
