The Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF) are encouraging all 14-18 year olds across Northern Ireland to ‘Just be Smokefree’ during the month of October. By doing so they will improve their health, show their support for a smokefree environment and be in with a chance to win a fantastic trip to Europe and a number of other top prizes.
Cathy McAleenan, Project Co-ordinator, Ulster Cancer Foundation said, “This exciting European project is being co-ordinated across 10 countries by UCF for a 5th successful year. UCF is calling all young people non-smokers, occasional smokers and daily smokers to take up the challenge and ‘Just be Smokefree’ for one month from 1st Oct - 31st Oct 2004.
“Application forms have been distributed to all Secondary Schools, Further and Higher Education Colleges, Health and Leisure facilities, Libraries and Universities across Northern Ireland. We hope that this competition will highlight the benefits of smoking cessation and prevention, while educating young people on the dangers of smoking.”
You can enter the competition in many ways, either fill in an application form and send it to the Ulster Cancer Foundation, Pavillion 2, Belvoir Park Hospital, Belfast BT8 8JR, enter online at ulstercancer.org/aboutucf/smokefree.html or contact Cathy McAleenan, Project Co-ordinator on 028 3883 0807 or e-mail cathy_mcaleenan@btconnect.com
