UCF represents Northern Ireland at Entente Cordiale Celebrations in Paris
By Derval Keenan, 6/15/2004 10:30:45 AM

The Chief Executive of Northern Ireland’s leading local charity, the Ulster Cancer Foundation, recently represented Northern Ireland at the Entente Cordiale celebrations, which took place in Paris.

Arlene Spiers attended the special event, hosted by Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh.

The celebrations’ theme was the fight against cancer and more than 150 cancer specialists from the UK and France attended a special dinner to mark the centenary of the Entente Cordiale agreement.

Arlene Spiers, Chief Executive, Ulster Cancer Foundation said, “It was a tremendous honour for me to be invited and an opportunity to meet with a number of highly distinguished figures from the worlds of government, research, medicine, and industry from France and the UK, who are working in the cancer field.

“Cancer affects all nationalities and it is only by working in partnership with cancer specialists from around the world that we will achieve advances in cancer research, better treatments, and ultimately a cure, for the disease.”

Delegates were encouraged to share information and knowledge about their own organisations’ work throughout the evening to promote greater cooperation between cancer specialists on both sides of the Channel.
