UCF welcome Health Minister?’s announcement on Herceptin

Alan George, Head of Care Services, Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF) said ?“UCF welcomes the decision made by the Health Minister, Shaun Woodward, that some women in the early stages of breast cancer in Northern Ireland will now benefit from Herceptin, following consultation from their Oncologist.
?“Reports have shown that up to 25% of newly diagnosed women with breast cancer may benefit from this treatment.
?“Although Herceptin is expensive, UCF believe that the cost should in no way be a barrier for those women who would benefit from this treatment.?”
