Art Exhibition in aid of the Ulster Cancer Foundation
By Derval Keenan, 11/7/2005 4:07:31 PM

Local artist, Joan Carson will be holding an art exhibition in aid of the Ulster Cancer Foundation at the Linen Green, Moygashel from 3rd - 20th October 2005.

Joan is exhibiting a total of 45 paintings in her bold acrylic signature style depicting familiar local scenes as well as scenes from recent holidays to Mallorca and Barcelona.

Joan says, “I have been painting since my school days at the Collegiate Grammar School in Enniskillen where I was very fortunate to be taught by the talented artist, Kathleen McBride. In the intervening years however my painting took second place to my family and career. Since retiring and especially since the death of my daughter Janet to breast cancer last year, I have been painting more and have found it to be both therapeutic and relaxing.

“I decided to hold my first solo exhibition to raise funds, in memory of Janet, which in turn will be given to help the work of the Ulster Cancer Foundation who provide much needed support to all those affected by cancer.”

The exhibition will be officially opened by Arlene Spiers, Chief Executive of the Ulster Cancer Foundation at a special reception on Monday 3rd October at 7.30pm.

All paintings at the exhibition are available to buy with proceeds going to the Ulster Cancer Foundation.
