The Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF) is encouraging people to Think Pink! during October, Breast Cancer Awareness month.
The leading local cancer charity has officially launched its 8th annual Breast
Cancer Awareness campaign, supporting local women with breast cancer.
One of the highlights of the month-long campaign is the Enniskillen Think Pink! luncheon which takes place on Friday 14th October at the Killyhevlin Hotel.
Sylvia Lucy, Area Development Officer, UCF explains, ?The Think Pink! luncheon is an opportunity to celebrate life after breast cancer and we are encouraging women in the local area to come along and enjoy a great afternoon.
?This year the guest speaker is Billy Dixon, Northern Ireland?s answer to Trinny and Susannah! He will be the star attraction for many having advised and styled national and international leaders, television presenters and media stars. He will be sharing his top tips for making the best impression through your clothes, make-up and body language.
?We are delighted that Personal Touch Northern Ireland is sponsoring the luncheon this year, helping us to raise vital funds to support local women with breast cancer.?
The Think Pink! luncheon plays an important role in raising awareness of breast cancer - the most common form of cancer in local women. Over 900 women are diagnosed with the disease every year with one in twelve developing the disease during their lifetime.
Sylvia added, ?This year the Think Pink! campaign focuses on the importance of being breast aware as early detection really does save lives. Women should get to know what their breasts are normally like and any changes should be reported to their GP without delay. We also urge women to keep their screening appointment when invited as over a third of breast cancers are picked up through the breast screening service.?
Tickets for the Think Pink! luncheon cost £25 and are now available by contacting UCF on 028 9049 2007 / 028 9049 4466 or email: leonnewheatley@ulstercancer.org
