Calling all Classic Tractor Enthusiasts!
By Derval Keenan, 9/26/2005 2:58:41 PM

Classic tractor enthusiasts should note that a very special event is being planned in the North West on Saturday 10th September.

A Classic Tractor Road Run ?– the first of its kind in the area - will start from Aghadowey Presbyterian Church Hall and follow a route taking in Ringsend, Garvagh, Kilrea and Vow Road. Proceeds from the event will be given to the Ulster Cancer Foundation.

Robert Murray, from Aghadowey, who has been organising the event said, ?“The road run starts at 10.00am from Aghadowey Presbyterian Church with a lunch-stop at the Imperial Hotel in Garvagh where the vintage tractors will be on display. We hope to be back at Aghadowey Church Halls for approx 4.30pm for a certificate and awards presentation. We are encouraging as many people as possible to participate in the event ?– whether as a spectator or a participant.?”

Sylvia Lucy, Area Development Officer, UCF added, ?“Not only will the classic tractor road run take participants through some of the most scenic parts of Northern Ireland, but it also helps to raise vital funds for the Ulster Cancer Foundation funding care services locally for all those affected by cancer, as well as bringing hope for the future through cancer research.?”

Anyone who has a classic tractor that is road-worthy and insured and would like to participate in the event should contact Robert Murray (07740 500458) or Nigel Daly (07771 630037) for an application form. Participants are asked to make a donation of £15 as an entry fee or raise sponsorship for the Ulster Cancer Foundation.
