Gigi Hair Graduates, Downpatrick are having a Pink Day on Christmas Eve to raise funds for the lifesaving work of the Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF).
The hairdressing salon will be decorated in pink, thanks to Flower Vogue, Downpatrick and all staff will be dressed in pink to add a bit of sparkle to the day. All money raised from hair appointments on Christmas Eve together with staff wages will be donated to UCFs breast cancer awareness campaign.
Deborah McWhirter, Direct Marketing Manager, UCF said, We would especially like to thank all staff at Gigi Hair Graduates for their enthusiasm and support for this fundraising event and everyone who has booked hair appointments for Christmas Eve.
There are currently around 39,000 people living with cancer in Northern Ireland and of those 5,752 are women with breast cancer. Additionally around 900 local women are newly diagnosed every year.
Our campaign message this year is one of hope that there is life after cancer and the good news is that the earlier breast cancer is discovered, the better the chances are of successful treatment and full recovery. Research funded by UCF in Northern Ireland continues to shed light on this complex disease, its causes and treatment, and advances are being made.
UCF understands that there is little that causes as much anxiety and distress as a diagnosis of cancer. If you would like more information on the services provided by the UCF, support, counselling or just to talk about cancer please contact UCFs freefone helpline on 0800 783 33 39.
