The Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF) has announced arrangements for this year?s annual Festival of Lessons and Carols. This special Interdenominational event will take place on Friday 10th December at 7.30pm in Cooke Presbyterian Church, Ormeau Road, Belfast.
Arlene Spiers, Chief Executive, Ulster Cancer Foundation, said, ?Christmas is a time for celebrating and sharing special moments with family and friends, however it is also a time for remembering those we have lost to cancer.
The Festival of Carols and Lessons is an opportunity to join with the UCF to share comfort and support - and most importantly hope for the future.
?I would like to give a special thanks to the Cancer Patients, Carers and Health Professionals who will be participating in the readings as well as guest speakers including UTV presenter Pamela Ballentine. Music will be provided by Comber Silver Band and Cooke Praise Group, which will make an enchanting evening for all. A warm invitation is extended to everyone.
Arlene added, ?There is little that causes as much anxiety and distress to patients and their families as a diagnosis of cancer. In Northern Ireland one in three people will develop cancer during their lifetime, and around 8,500 families every year have a loved one develop the disease. UCF is committed to supporting cancer patients and their families, educating people on how they can reduce their cancer risk and to funding vital research into the disease.?
If you have any concerns about cancer please call UCF?s confidential freefone helpline for information, support or counselling on 0800 783 33 39.
