The Four Peaks Challenge 2005
6/23/2005 to 6/26/2005

Over the weekend of 23rdJune we will be ascending the highest mountains in Britain. Please try and join us if you can

Climb Slieve Donard, Snowdon, Scaffel Pike and Ben Nevis over the weekend of 23rd June 2003.

There are many reasons for attempting the Challenge, whether it be to raise funds for a deserving charitable couase such as us, to test yourself against the mountains or simply for the sheer enjoyment of being amongst some of the most dramatic scenery in the world.

We must ask that everyone on this event raises a minimum of £435 to ensure that all costs are covered and that UCF will benefit significantly.

For further information contact Neill Grainger on 028 9066 3281 go online to www.ukoutdoorpursuits.co.uk and don't forget to state your want to raise money for UCF.

Comments about this event:

I am a supporter of cancer charities. My father died of carcinamatosis. However, I think it is highly irresponsible of you to encourage people to take part in a "Four-Peaks Challenge" to raise funds. Such challenges are damaging the environment and upsetting residents in the areas used by participants. Please try and think of something more original next year.

The mountains belong to everyone. Of course they could be completely protected if acess was completely blocked. Perhaps an exception could be made just for local residents? This is a professionally run event which at all times seeks to minimise the understandale frustrations of local residents lucky enough to live in these places all year round.

I cannot believe that UCF feel it is acceptable to ask people to take part in this event in the name of 'Ulster Cancer Foundation'. People spend months training and fundraising for this event and how much money actually goes to the charity?? £115!! That's it as far as I can see - £85.50 registration fee and minimum sponsorship of £400. The costs that UK outdoor pursuits charge add up to £370.50!! I think this is a disgrace that UCF thinks this a fundraising.

Walkers throughout Ireland look forward to the Ulster Cancer Foundation's annual Four Peaks Challenge, which is a daunting test for many and provides a sense of achievement for all. Walkers are instructed of the necessary precautions required to limit any damage while walking in such a beautiful and tranquil environment. The Ulster Cancer Foundation would not undertake any fundraising activity that would not raise funds for the organisation. Obviously in any event there are minimal overhead costs, which include insurance, travel expenses and administration. All supporters can be assured that our events are huge contributors to our annual income and events such as the Four Peaks Challenge and Ben Nevis are vitally important to us. We would like to thank all of our supporters who make our work possible through their continuous commitment and generosity. The Ulster Cancer Foundation is a local charity and uses all funds raised in the Province for the benefit of local people.

i have not long lost my mother to cancer and that fact that some people debate about how much actually goes to the charities after costs is disgraceful..any amount is greatly appreciated and taking part in the event in itself is a worthwhile contribution

The 4 peaks challenge only goes past ONE (yes that?’s 1) house on the entire 44 mile route. (My mate lives there by the way and he isn?’t bothered). So just who the upset residents are is a mystery?
